Planning to get married in Indiana? You’ll need a valid marriage license before your ceremony. Here’s everything you need to know to make the process smooth and stress-free.

You must apply in person at a County Clerk’s Office:

  • Indiana Residents: Apply in the county where you live.

  • Out-of-State Residents: Apply in the county where your ceremony will take place.

“When should you apply?”

  • Apply no more than 60 days before your wedding. The marriage license is only valid for 60 days.

  • There’s no waiting period — you can marry the same day you get your license.

(It is important to contact your local clerk’s office to verify. This information varies from office to office.)

  • Cost: Around $25 for residents, $65 for out-of-state couples (varies county to county)

  • Bring:

    • Valid photo ID (driver’s license or passport)

    • Social Security numbers (you don’t need the card)

    • Payment (cash or card, depending on the county)

“What happens after your wedding?”

As your officiant, we will:

  • Sign your license immediately after your ceremony
