The Story About Your Wedding Ceremony
Let’s talk about the wedding ceremony. Most have a format to follow. However, your ceremony is an open book you can fill with whatever magical words are meaningful to you.
You legally have to include two parts in your wedding ceremony. The “Declaration of Intent” (I Do’s) and the “Pronouncement of Marriage”. This is the part when the Officiant pronounces you as Married.
When I draft my client’s wedding ceremony script, I have a format that I use. Again, things can be added or omitted. The order looks like this.
- Welcome
- Opening Blessing/Moment of Silence
- The Bond of Family
- Rituals/Readings
- Words of advice to the couple
- Dedication/Notes of Appreciation
- DECLARATION OF INTENT
- Exchange of Vows
- Blessing of Rings
- Exchange of Rings
- Closing/Blessing
- PRONOUNCEMENT OF MARRIAGE
- The kiss, then Recessional (exit of couple and bridal party)
- Don’t forget to add any instructions you would like to give to the guests after the recession.
Elopement Sample
